SSL Sailors at the Arab Sailing Championship

The Arab Sailing Championship 2026 concluded on Monday at the stunning Palm Royale – Soma Bay in Egypt, after eight competitive races that brought together some of the best sailors from across the region. Among the competitors were sailors from SSL, who delivered strong performances in both ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 classes.

The Arab Sailing Championship contributes 500 points to the Global Ranking.

In the ILCA 7 fleet, Hussain Aljabri of SSL Team Oman achieved a good result, securing third place overall and earning a spot on the podium after a consistent and focused regatta. Representing the SSL Team United Arab Emirates, Adil Khalid finished in sixth place, showing solid racing throughout the championship.

SSL was also represented in the ILCA 6 class. Ibtisam Alsalmi of SSL Team Oman finished the regatta in 13th place with a silver medal in Masters, while Zineb Hariss of SSL Team Morocco took 15th place. Both sailors gained valuable experience in a highly competitive fleet and demonstrated steady progress across the eight races.

The championship in Soma Bay provided an important opportunity for sailors to test themselves against top regional competition in challenging and varied conditions.

Ibtisam Alsalmi holds second place in the SSL Oman ranking, just behind captain Nasser Al Mashari, while Hussain Aljabri sits fifth. In the SSL UAE ranking, Adil Khalid stands out as the undisputed leader of his country.
